AUTHOR’S INTERVIEW OF NATALIE LOPEZ FOR HER DEBUT BOOK “THE ART OF HEALING”

  1. Would you like to introduce yourself to your readers?
  • Hello there! My name is Natalie Lopez. I am 24 and currently finishing my master’s degree in special education. I started writing my book in 2018 because my boyfriend was shot and killed. I originally wrote for my own personal journey, but I realized that my words and feelings may impact others.
  1. Congratulations for your debut book ma’am! What is the significance of the title “The Art of Healing”?
  • In the beginning, my pain was awful. I did not understand why I was dealing with something so heartbreaking. However, my healing turned out to be the best thing to happen to me. It was truly an art. Writing is an art. Feeling the pain is an art.
  1. What do you hope your readers take away from this book?
  • I hope that my readers understand that pain and suffering is inevitable. However, you are not the only person going through it. There are people out there who have been where you are. There are people you can lean on. That is another reason I decided to publish my book. I want people to know I have been where they may be, and I made it through.
  1. Do you like reading? Who is your favourite author?
  • I love reading. My favorite author is Reyna Biddy. I love her books and her style of writing. I look up to her because she is able to draw you in with amazing details. She would also be the person I would want to be mentored by. I feel like I could learn a lot from her and her thought-process.
  1. What was the first thought that came to your mind that actually persuaded you to write your own book?
  • I never thought about actually writing my own book until I realized that my words/feelings could benefit others going through a similar situation.
  1. What did you learn while writing this book?
  • I learned so many things. I mainly learned about myself. I learned that my healing is not the same as others, but it is just as important. Writing this book made me stronger and wiser. I look at life differently because I know how short life really is.
  1. What were the difficulties you faced while writing this book?
  • I was nervous about how my book would be received. I realized that didn’t matter. This was for me. I wanted to use this book to complete my healing. I was not sure what people that knew my boyfriend would think but now I know that my book has done so much good for others.
  1. What is your opinion on today’s relationships of the present youth?
  • I think relationships today are complex. There are people who try and people who give up. However, the main thing I noticed is that we tend to take a lot of things for granted.
  1. Any message for your readers?
  • A message I want all my readers to remember is that although pain and suffering will come and we may not understand why, the healing you do is completely up to you. Do not let anyone tell you how you should feel or how fast you need to move on with anything. You are in charge of your life.

Thank you for your beautiful interview.

Q2. What inspired you to write this book?
A- I lived a very crazy life and have experienced so many hardships. Q3. What do you hope your readers take away from this book?
A- I want the reader to feel every single emotion that exists in the spectrum while reading it. I won’t sugar coat. I want any person mentioned in the book who may have read it to feel EVERY emotion you put me through. Whether good or bad, you need to know. Call me selfish or weak but I know I’m neither of those things and I deserve closure. But most important, I want to inspire today’s youth that there is hope whenever you’re feeling hopeless.

Q4. What’s the significance of the title “two one five”?
A- Ah the million dollar question haha! TWO ONE FIVE is a cryptic message that involves two significant things in my life. You must read it to understand.

【Two One Five】

Author: Jeff Jaskolka
Genre: memoir
.
It is basically a memoir, a heady ride where different version of truth from author’s life are presented.

The book took us back to author’s school days which focus on some facets of life as seen by the author. Despite of his modern upbringing, he had to fight against racism, even he had gone through several heartbreaks at that time.

Though he had to cope with a horrific tragedy that had a profound effect on his family, still he now unfolds the mysteries behind all his success and happiness to inspire others.

There’s something about the author, something that makes you feel that he is honest, sincere and brave, and you can relate with. There is a lot to absorb and process, as the story moves forward.

It manages to ground its soaring ideas of love, loss and betrayal in strong emotionality. It gives the way to approach the situations & value things. Basically to understand what, why and how the situations were.

I must say, first few pages were totally thrilling as well as heartbreaking for me. I hadn’t expected such things there. Narration is good but I think it could have been much better.

The amount of thought, refreshing perspective of a totally different culture and certain aspects of author’s life that author puts in his book is largely appreciable. To be honest, the book has lots of thrill, chills and suspense, even though some parts are unnecessarily dragged.

As this book is a beginner friendly young adult book, I would recommend this to beginners only.

GET READY FOR YOUR NEXT HOLIDAY TRIP KANHA!

“Can we see tigers in this forest?” It was the one and only question of our trip to Kanha National Park, Madhya Pradesh, that was beaming in our mind throughout our excursion.

Being a zoologist I need to travel from sea beach to deep dense jungle almost every year, and I really enjoy this. But at that time after a huge discussion we decided to visit the Kanha national park that is being popularized as the Tiger reserve and interestingly is being declared as one of the finest wildlife areas in the world. Also, it was declared a reserve forest in 1879 and revalued as a wildlife sanctuary in 1933.

The vivacious beautiful landscapes and the surrounding luxurious meadows along with the wooded strands the dense maroons of forests and the crystal clear streams amidst the dense jungle offer a magnanimous sightseeing experiences for the nature lover , making the land more beautiful and adorable.

Such a memorable trip it was! The Kanha National Park is surely a paradise for the wild species that brings the natural habitat for them. A location which is filled with large varieties of fauna out of which the jungle is best known for Barasingha, the swamp deer, wild Dog and Indian tiger (is famously called ‘the jewel of Kanha’). But only one of our Jeeps was able to see the cheetah and captured its picture.

Though the impact of this natural beauty will remain intact within me forever. Jungle safari is the lifetime adventurous opportunity to explore the unknown inside the forest beyond your imagination .Every zone which we visited was different in its own way. We were truly mesmerized to be able to witness a peacock that was resting on a termite nest but unfortunately we couldn’t capture that posture. This is a safari unlike any other, full of surprises and thrills.

🌹(Review)🌹
A doorway to a secret garden is an inspirational and beaming dive to the thoughts of a passionate writer. Each chapter holds the symbol of a petal containing a multitude of thoughts crowned with passion, love, light, hope and kindness.

⏺The cover is pretty good and the title is nicely chosen.
⏺It contains poems powered by emotional cores, deep thoughts, self-love, hope, nature and so on. Poems are appealing as it gets more interesting eventually.
⏺ Poems are delicate, rhythmic and simply written with the use of good vocabs and significant meanings.
⏺Language is simple and economical. One can finish in no time. The four sections of this book signified that the present is a repercussion of the past.
⏺I loved ‘Me and my Shadow’, “Love is Louder”, “An Adventure” and so on. I think the list is endless!
On the whole, it’s a lovely read.

AUTHOR’S INTERVIEW OF HEENA JOSHI FOR ‘I IN LIFE’

Q1.Would you like to introduce yourself to your readers?

Ans.A mother who is learning to be a parent. A writer who takes up writing challenges and conquers the fear of writing good. A journalist by academics and also previous profession. A teacher by heart.

Q2. What inspired you to write this book?

Ans. I hope you believe when I say that the birth of this book was an accident than any plan. It was just my recluse in writing to bear the loss of my mother in law, that “I in life”, was conceived. I was crestfallen and suddenly super lonely without having her behind me everyday and that was the month of NapoWrimo (national poetry writing month- Arpil every year), so all the poetry platforms including yourquote too, were filled with prompts and somewhere in depression, this book happened. I wrote more than 200 poetries in that month itself. Sometimes, tough times leave their beautiful footprints with you and this book is one of those.

Q3. What do you hope your readers take away from this book?

Ans. I may sound brutally honest but this book was my second book after a short story collection and for the first time, I never cared about readers. I wrote what I felt and observed around me. Be it a seemingly cheerful lady, who looks all very happy till the time someone gives her eyes a chance to talk. So basically, even though I did not care much about the response of readers, I cared enough about the lives around me. So every reader will find a part of them in the book. Somewhere struggling, somewhere settling down, somewhere learning, somewhere unlearning, to feel what they have suppressed, to suppress what lies there unnecessarily, to get carried away with the meanings much needed to sort life.

Q4. Is writing your full-time career? Or would you like it to be?

Ans. As of now when I am home bound with my little one, writing is my only source to earn. But yes, it is turning into a full time career with my upcoming third book, a short story collection (which I attempted in May short story month.)

Q5. Do you like reading? Who is your favourite author?

Ans. Reading was part of me since my childhood and I picked up the pace in my pre wedding years where I used to read one book in a day too. I guess, reading is like setting up furniture in the room of thoughts, and writing is dusting that furniture. So reading gives a writer the raw material and writing helps to polish that rawness. Also writing is a process, where writer develops the photos or his/her read material and gets the final print in form of his own writing. My favourite authors are Paulo Coelho, Mitch Albom, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Elizbeth Gilbert, J.K.Rowling, Ruskin Bond, Agatha Christie, Amish Tripathi, Ashwin Sanghi, Novoneel Chakraborty, Twinkle Khanna, Cheryl Strayed ( the list goes on )

Q6. If not writing books, how would you express your creativity?

Ans. If it was not writing, then I would have painted graffiti on walls. I would try it once for sure. It magnanimity just drools me over.

Q7. What famous author do you wish would be your mentor?

Ans. I want Paulo Coelho to be my mentor in writing. His writings are soothing and are salad for soul; a healthiest salad.

Q8. What did you learn while writing this book?

Ans. Writing is like mathematics in terms of practising. The more you write, is the way to crack the secret of being better at it. While writing this book, I just did not get the best secret to be a better writer, which was continuity but also a lesson that simplicity is the essence of writing, a rare and often over understood essence. Writing is not about saying something new every time, but making the old look new with your way of writing and trust me, your ways will always be unique and precious. You won’t realise it till you actually start writing.

Q9. What is your opinion on today’s relationships of the present youth?

Ans. Talking of romantic relationships amongst youth, I guess that it is the most over rated phenomenon, and it is high time, our youth needs a reality check. We writers too have a responsibility here to put a full stop to fairy tales in love, which are misguiding the youth about concept of love. I would never blame the youth because it is all an imposed, capitalist propaganda done by media in the name of love. For example, celebrating valentines day. The reason why it is a hype because if media and today’s so called literature will stop feeding the young minds about the unnecessary emergency to celebrate it, their products won’t sale. Who will buy expensive gifts in the name of celebrating the week of love. So the idea of consumerism has taken over the once upon so wise and patient love. I hope soon an eye opener comes into the scene through any book or media to raise the curtain.

Q10. Any message for your readers?

Ans. The habit of reading is habit of leading and healing. If you find unable to read or get interest in book, keep trying the other book because some book, somewhere is definitely made for each one of us. And that some book will take you to the world of knowledge, remedies, power, healing, overcoming fears. More than what today’s concept of love will do to you. Just believe in the being of a book made for you and keep trying to change genres till you find the right one for you.

🐕About the book🐕

This book has many achievements in the short span of three years. First of all, was when ‘Daily News & Analysis’ a leading English Daily Newspaper featured this book in their ‘Time for Books’ section within a month of the book’s release.

Soon, the book caught the attention of the legendary actor Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and he wrote an emotional letter wishing the book success. Things didn’t end here. The next was a letter from the Hon’ble Union Minister Smt. Maneka Ghandhi.

During this, the readers had started talking about the book, and as author’s first one he was interviewed by Radio One. The interview was aired for five continuous days and repeated many times over the time.

The most recent one is from the king of romantic songs, Ankit Tiwari, who sent a message to the author on Instagram and called him for an in-person meeting.

🐕Review🐕

🐾The cover of the book is really pretty. It’s one of the reasons I was attracted to this book.
🐾The book talks about cute and innocent pet Saint Bernard, who was lorn and left to fend off himself with a hope of survival.
🐾Narration is good and engaging. So is the plot. Easy-to-gasp language helps the story moving ahead well that tempered its content.
🐾 I think this heart touching story is specifically created for the need of today’s circumstances. The views of the unsocial activities on the animals are on a sharp rise in the middle of the lockdown.
🐾 The intriguing concept apart, what’s interesting about the book is that a large part of the entire theme shared about how an animal itself feels, so that we, human beings, can relate with them easily.
🐾Overall, it is a lovely book and one can only get a positive outcome out of this.

🌹(Review)🌹
“when it rains, someone tiptoes in your thoughts, to jump in puddles of bruised nights, and wounds resurface, as seams of your new dress… …stitched in long therapy sessions…”

“swimming doesn’t help in the ocean of love, you mustn’t enter if you never learnt the art of sinking…” – Inevitable

“i had a pet dog… …with big innocent eyes i named him ‘Trust’… …and gave him to you, assuming you will never kill him… – I miss my Dog…”
.
⏺The cover is pretty good and the title is nicely chosen.
⏺It contains 75 poems in total filled with emotions, heartbreaks, longing for someone, memories and so on. But honestly I couldn’t get involved much in this book.
⏺ All the poems are written in a way that irks the lack of rhythm. But,of course, I liked free spirit of author’s thoughts that brings a touch of reality.
⏺Language is simple and economical. In the short term, I think all poems are relatable and enduring but I wish it could have been more polished.
⏺Poems are delicate, beautiful but not up to my expectations.
On the whole, it is a one-time read.

Book Review

🔷||My Ramyeon Girl||🔷
Author: Nethra A
Pages: 90
Genre: romance
.
RATINGS: 🌟 🌟 🌟
.
🔷【Review】🔷
Starting from the cover, it’s pretty good and title is catchy too.

One afternoon, Lee Jung-Su, a star at the peak of his career meets Meena at a ramyeon shop, and thenceforth things take a turn. He gradually grows to like her, but encounters racism first-hand as he falls for the Indian girl.

Celebrities don’t have it easy, especially not in South Korea. His fresh approach towards acting and the consequences of his relationship with Meena changes his perspectives of black and white, of good and bad, of reality and fantasy.

It doesn’t matter if the plot is good or bad, honestly I couldn’t relate with it much and it never lets me tempted beyond what it blurb says! First few pages were totally confusing and for me it was too difficult to understand the characters well. I think the book is not engaging enough.

But the concept of young adult romance actually makes you feel happy and enduring. On the other hand, the theme is quite fresh and intense and the ending was good too. Still I must say narration could have much better and interesting. If you are a beginner, then this short read for you.
