Starting from the cover, it’s pretty and the title is catchy.

We can still say that we know very little about the universe and the science behind our everyday habits. This plot is quite unique and divided into three parts to focus on neurons and their activities, super stimulus and their functions and attention, addictions and so on. So for me it’s a new enchanting read to know more about scientific upliftment.

Also, easy-to-gasp language and narration help its content to make it more engaging with the help of beautiful illustrations. Apart from that, the author has tried to highlight the complex scientific discussions in a simple way that create curiosity among readers but according to me, somehow it failed to impress me. So, it needs little modifications but I appreciate author’s knowledge and deep research that permeated throughout the book.
Overal, this book is a good book.

Starting from the cover, it’s really pretty and the title is catchy.

A Tea-Stall by the Side of the Road is a collection of short stories based on anecdotes, folklore and urban legends from all over the country based on actual experiences. A tea-stall, popularly called a ‘tapri’ in India, is a place where people gather to gossip, share news and views, tales and anecdotes. It is also the favoured place for inspiration and the author’s preferred spot for writing his book.

This stories are enveloped with enormous emotion from all genres like humour, drama, horror and romance. The events are real and it’s how the author saw the world. Easy-to-gasp language helps each story moving ahead well that tempered its content. I absolutely loved those short stories as you get so many good vibes under one roof.

Apart from that, the author has tried to highlight the real picture of city people and the people of a village as well. According to me, travels plays an important role in most of the stories here. To be honest, I was left wondering how engaging the book is for all ages with a relaxing cup of tea.
Overal, this book is a good choice especially for young adults.

Starting from the cover, it’s really pretty and the title is catchy.

This is not a story of somebody else, this is the story of reality and author’s personal point of views. However, this is an extremely self-aware book. It takes pertinent issues like Indian cultures and politics, intangibilities and emotional fallout of nationality and so on.Author not only tried to question constantly against the odds of the society, but also adapted a self-referential tone.

I really liked author’s writing style and the storytelling that brings a tempering dark and edgy way with a touch of humor effectively. Also, this book revolves around the fluctuation of secularism, poverty and inadvertence that will rethink you for your deeds. But some parts may seem very confusing for a reader. Overal, this book is a good choice for adults.

Starting from the cover, it’s really simple and attractive. Title is also catchy.

What if we would be able to take a revenge for our harms/injustices intentionally played upon us by our enemies? Well, the story begins in an interesting way that’s using real life footage effectively framed in a simple language, tempered with emotions and a twist that is at the heart of the revenge drama of which women are the key players. It gives this book much of its heft.

The purpose of the book is to share the value of self-discovery. Also, characters are well described, giving the readers endearing moment without losing grip on its real feel and it drives the narrative of the book which works as cautionary tale. Simultaneously, the powerful storytelling, a mysterious plot and proper twist and turns make it more engaging.Overall, it’s a nice read.

“I may fall,
I may break,
I may shatter,
But I will still exist” – ‘Broken Glass’
.
“Faces from all over the planet
Smile at me from near and far,
Some are fair, some are dark,
But beautiful, they all are” -‘similarly different’
.
⏺ The cover is quite interesting and the title is nicely chosen.
⏺It contains 70 poems in total filled fill with sadness, emotions, conflict, destruction of environment, unnecessary wars, and the suffering of children through the eyes of a teenager.
⏺ All the poems are written in a way that irks the lack of positive vibes. Well, this book can be improvised.
⏺Language is simple and heart touching. Also I liked the illustrations at the corner of every pages to make it more beautiful.
⏺Few poems lack of basic rhythms but I loved “Broken Glass”, “similarly different”and “Through a child’s Eyes” the most.

On the whole, it was a one time read.

Author’s Interview of Seemaant Sohal

Navkiran and O Charam are two books of a poetry collection by Seemaant Sohal that have been published under the aegis of Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi, Udaipur. The author was given the Sumnesh Joshi award for his book Navkiran. He (along with Mayamriga and Pramod Kumar Sharma) has edited the short stories and poetry collection book ‘Sahitya Prasav’. Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi’s book of collection of poetry of poets from Rajasthan, ‘Ret Par Nange Paanv’, contains Seemaant Sohal’s poetry. He has also done Punjabi to Hindi translation work.

The poems in Sohal’s new book, Rabaab are inspired by the enlightening words of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Collectively, the poems encompass and encapsulate the philosophical
teachings of the first Sikh Guru, and his thoughts on life and spirituality. I have strived to keep my verses true in their spirit to the words of Baani and Japu Ji Saheb.
In an interview about Rabaab, Seemant Sohal talks about the inspiration behind the poems and several other topics. Read the full interview below.

Q1. What is your book about?
Ans. The poems in Rabaab are inspired by the enlightening words of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Collectively, the poems encompass and encapsulate the philosophical teachings of the first Sikh Guru, and his thoughts on life and spirituality. I have strived to keep my verses true in their spirit to the words of Baani and Japu Ji Saheb.

Q2. What inspired you to write this book?
Ans. During a car journey, my mind wandered towards the writing and philosophy of Amish. On that trail of thought, I started thinking about my readings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and his illuminating doctrines on life and the spiritual process. It was then that I decided to pen down my interpretation of his teachings in my own verse.

Q3. What do you hope your readers take away from this book?
Ans. Gurbani refers to the hymns in Sikh Texts. In Rabaab, I have tried to enunciate the teachings of the Gurbani in simple verses. My hope from this book is that it gives the readers a better outlook on the teachings in these hymns, helping them better understand, appreciate and adopt them.

Q4. Is writing your full-time career? Or would you like it to be?
Ans. Writing is not a full-time career for me, yet. But, I would love to pursue it as my main profession.

Q5. What was your dream job when you were younger?
Ans. As a child, I dreamed about securing a stable job, much like the other kids my age. Later, I found great joy in reading short stories and poetry. I still remember one of my favourites was the Bure Phanse series. After I started reading, I started leaning towards writing gradually.

Q6. Do you like reading? Who is your favourite author?
Ans. I still enjoy reading as much as I did as a child. My favourite Punjabi author is Surjit Patar. The Hindi authors I like the most include Naresh Saxena, Rajesh Joshi and Krishan Kalpik.

Q7. What is the significance of the title?
Ans. Rabaab is string instrument that Guru Nanak Dev Ji gifted to his cherished friend, Bhai Mardana. Bhai Mardana played the instrument when the Guru sang his hymns, adding to their beauty, which is precisely what my book aims to do.

Q8. What famous author do you wish would be your mentor?
Ans. I don’t believe writing to be a thing one can learn. You can only take inspiration
from the maestros, but it is not a textbook subject that can be taught and learned. If I ever get the chance, I would be honoured to seek inspiration from the master Hindi poets- Naresh Saxena, Rajesh Joshi and Krishan Kalpik.

Q9. What does success mean to you?
Ans. Success, to me, means a peaceful life with mental and physical relaxation. I believe a person is truly successful only when he is kind, generous and giving.

Q10. What is your opinion on the relationship of the present youth with spiritual knowledge?
Ans. I believe that every person must know where they come from, socially and spiritually. The knowledge of religious texts teaches a lot more than just stories, it teaches us the way of life. I think that a society that abandons its spiritual roots would inch close to chaos, and the people would be far from good.

💮(REVIEW)💮
The story begins with Tia Bakshi, a 25-year-old girl who has been reported missing from Mumbai and tied up Samar and Kiara who are somehow connected with an esoteric event that changed their lives drastically. In this jilted place Tia has little to do, but reminiscence her old life..
And now she is forced to question; was her life really perfect? Or was it a perfect lie?

The entire plot is written in a way that mysterious twists and turns laid ahead and injected some rich colour and complicated emotions into the chronicles of domination and rebellion. It’s more diverse, exploring a dark side of human’s activity. In retrospect, it is clear that the story has evolved to average out over time, to be good enough for its various and expanding references in relationships.

Cover of this book is well designed and the title is catchy. Apart from that, it’s pretty engaging adventurous thriller book to make your weekends wonderful.

“Previous for me
Auspicious for me
Many previous memories
No one dare to stole from me.”
                                         – ‘Precious’
“Time is holy thing
Provide two wings
Time heals make you king
Bad time give you sting”
                                      – ‘Time’
⏺ The cover is quite simple but the title is catchy.
⏺Author establishes the journey filled fill with love, emotions and strong feelings for those who spend a long time in loving a person.
⏺ It can give out a messege but I’m not sure how much impact it might have on readers because somehow I couldn’t get connected with most of the poems.
⏺language is simple but it can be improvised.
⏺ Sometimes poems lack of basic rhythms but among all that I loved “Time”, “Precious”and “Prayer” the most.

On the whole, it was okay.

Starting from the cover, it looks nice and the title is apt with the story.

Before going further this is a historical fiction mixed with other different genre set in 2017 where a young guy Saikat found a piece of ancient looking with strange images and Sanskrit inscriptions. Then he met a vivacious young lady Shuvashini. Thus their research revealed a century old story of a seductive danseuse,a painter with a photographic memory, a benevolent King and a gruesome conspiracy.

The answer lies in that incident which happened in 1900. The story emphasizes on how they unfolded the mystery by risking their lives in danger but towards the end it becomes rather heavy. At some point things happen at random in this book that has great clarity of thought and vision.

Although, the plot has strong potential, the burden of carrying lots of unnecessary events failed to make interesting impact. Adding to this characters are not well-developed but kudos to author’s skilled research that take one back to the ancient period of history.Overall, it’s a one-time read for me.

🔮【Frosted Glass】🔮

🔮(Review)🔮
It comprises of 14 short stories and 21 poems. The Stories, set in Calcutta, bring to the fore the darkness lurking in the human psyche and bare the baser instincts. Also it raises contemporary issues like man-woman relationships and its strains, moral and ethics, environmental degradation, class inequality, rapid and mass-scale unmindful urbanisation, are devoid of sentimentalisation.

Simultaneously, the poems weave a maze of dreams, images, reflections and stories. These poems are inseparable in a hidden way and are magically sequenced like various kinds of flowers in a garland or chapters of differing shades in a novel.

As I have read author’s few books before, so I was quite sure that author would portray the Calcutta’s culture and their traits in his poems. Hence, readers are pulled into their memory lane. Language is easy to understand and narration is really impressive.

I must say I was little disappointed. Some parts are monotonous or sometimes we dwell too much on some things in this stories. Anyway, it has something that makes me wonder though. Overall, it’s a nice book.
