Q1. Would you like to introduce yourself to your readers?
Well This is Prachi, from Bhubaneswar. An MBA student by profession who has a passion for writing.
Q2. Congratulations on your beautiful book ma’am. What’s the significance of the title?
Dearest Love, is an expression of emotions at every phase the protagonist experiences when she falls in love. She wants to confess everything she has inside because she believes even if like the temporary state of every beautiful feeling, this may be lost somewhere. So, she has to pour her heart out, the journey she has felt with him.
Q3. What do you hope your readers take away from this book?
I want my readers to connect with every phase of emotion, starting from falling in love with pain. I want them to know how beautiful they are, what impact they can have on you and how love persists inspite of barriers. How we shouldn’t give up on love even if we have to fight the hardest battles.
Q4. What was the first thought which came to your mind that actually persuaded you to write your own book?
People. I observe people. I tend to notice subtle things and the sometimes reason behind why would they react in a certain way. I study the emotion behind what they say. I find that there is a certain mystery in these things and also there would be some story. So, I had started writing stories based on what I see and what I experience, what other people experience.
Q5. What kind of books did you grow up reading? What genre do you prefer to read?
I grew up reading mysteries like Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Famous Five in sixth class onwards. Then I loved Nicholas Sparks and Nora Roberts in high school. Then I fell into an addiction for Historical Fiction and classics. I started reading them and I absolutely love that genre. My favourite book is ‘Once and Always’ by Judith Mcnaught.
Q6. What did you learn while writing this book?
I learnt to appreciate love in the moments we spend rather than thinking about how long would it last. I learnt how sometimes beauty can be found in the saddest things.
Q7. What were the difficulties you faced while writing this book?
I wanted to tell a story through phases of emotions. And this book is based on an unfinished love. A love that remain inspite of barriers, inspite of being separated. It’s a constant in your life.
As the vibe of unfinished love was my aim, I was not sure which poem should be the last one. Also, arranging the poems in an order so that it tells a kind of story to the readers is also a challenge.
Q8. What kinds of advice from fans/readers do you find most/least helpful?
I always like honest views about my book. I definitely know that I am still learning starting from my first book to this one, I know I have been growing and that’s because of the suggestions or reviews I get. I also focus on the suggestions in the next book I write, so definitely the gaps that they feel while reading helps me a lot.
Q9. Which is the one thing that writing changed in you?
I think it made me more mature, I became a lit more patient and it definitely made a better listener. Because I believe listening is an important aspect of being a storyteller or a writer.
Q10. How does one become a better writer according to you?
It’s focusing on details but then expressing in your words how you feel. It’s making your own comparisons with whatever aspect you want to. Also, listening is an important part to write. If you hear people, you will find many stories that you can write.
Thanks a lot, wishing you good luck! Thanks for sparing time from your busy schedule.
